Basic Military Training Graduation Honoring our newest Guardians

Presented by the Space Force Association and the SFA Texas Chapter 

Every journey into the U.S. Space Force begins at Joint Base San Antonio–Lackland, where the nation’s newest Guardians complete Basic Military Training (BMT). The Space Force Association (SFA), in proud partnership with our Texas Chapter, is committed to recognizing and supporting these graduates as they take their oath and officially join the Space Force family. 

Our Mission: Uplifting and Welcoming Guardians from Day One 

In December 2024, the Space Force Association made history by formally supporting the first Space Force–specific patching ceremony at Lackland AFB. This ceremony marks the moment when new Guardians receive their Space Force emblem — a symbolic transition from trainee to warfighter. SFA volunteers were on-site to present each graduate with a welcome letter, a commemorative coin, and heartfelt encouragement on behalf of the broader Guardian community. 

“Our presence reminded them they are not alone — that a community of support awaits them,” said SFA President Bill Woolf in his post-event reflections. “These young professionals represent the future of our national security in space. It’s our duty to ensure they feel valued and supported.”

• On-site Presence at patching ceremonies by local and national SFA representatives 
• Recognition Events to honor BMT graduates and connect them to mentors and peers
