The SFA Central Region stretches across some of the country’s deepest defense-industrial and space heritage, from Texas’s fast-growing commercial space sector to Nebraska’s historic ties to U.S. Strategic Command and U.S. Space Command. In Colorado Springs, the region’s chapter focuses on warfighter integration alongside major defense and technology partners, while Michigan’s chapter draws on one of the nation’s largest defense and aerospace supplier bases. As chapters continue to stand up in Houston and San Antonio, the Central Region is building a network that spans commercial launch companies, national security space missions, and heavy industrial capacity.
The SFA West Region offers members direct access to national security space acquisition decision-makers through its proximity to Space Systems Command (SSC) at Los Angeles Air Force Base. The region is a hub where established defense contractors and emerging commercial space companies collaborate alongside SpaceWERX’s rapid prototyping initiatives, and it is anchored by Vandenberg Space Force Base, the nation’s premier West Coast launch gateway and a center for Space Domain Awareness operations. The region also cultivates a strong space workforce pipeline through partnerships with research universities participating in the U.S. Space Force’s University Partnership Program.
Signature SFA West Region programs include the Western Region Innovation & Education Summit, Space Industry Days, and the Vandenberg Space Force Base Tech Expo, alongside premier networking events such as the annual Space Force Ball, the Schriever Space Futures Forum, and recurring Guardian Industry Nights. The region also supports STEM education through grants to programs like CyberPatriot and StellarXplorers, along with scholarship and family support initiatives. Notable partners include Space Systems Command, UC San Diego, The Bridge, and SpaceWERX.
