SFA Statement on the FY2027 Presidential Budget Request

The Space Force Association welcomes the Administration’s FY2027 Presidential Budget Request, which signals a strong and historic commitment to space as a warfighting domain and a cornerstone of national security.

The request for $1.5 trillion in total defense budgetary resources – a 44 percent increase over the FY2026 enacted level – reflects an overdue recognition that the threat environment demands bold investment. SFA is encouraged that space is explicitly identified as a priority within this request.

Of particular note is the Budget’s support for the Golden Dome for America initiative. Investment in space-based missile defense sensors and interceptors, alongside kinetic and non-kinetic defeat capabilities, represents a generational leap in homeland defense architecture. SFA strongly supports the development of a layered, next-generation missile defense system and applauds the emphasis on innovative acquisition approaches that deliver capability at speed while remaining responsible stewards of taxpayer dollars.

SFA also recognizes the Budget’s attention to capabilities that directly complement the space domain. Investments in unmanned and counter-unmanned systems will be critical to protecting American servicemembers and maintaining operational advantage against near-peer competitors. Likewise, the historic commitment to Artificial Intelligence, including the scaling of AI infrastructure and the GenAI.mil platform, will be essential to how the Space Force and the broader Joint Force fight and operate in the years ahead.

Finally, SFA commends the Administration for prioritizing our most valuable asset: our people. The proposed military pay increases, up to 7 percent for junior enlisted personnel, send a clear message that the sacrifices of Warfighters and their families are recognized and valued.

Space is no longer a sanctuary. It is a contested domain upon which every joint operation depends. This budget reflects that reality, and SFA continues to work to ensure these investments translate into sustained American superiority in space.
